Exploring Plant Life

The Kindergarten and Grade One students enjoyed exploring the gardens today.  We looked at all the plant life that grows there and then talked about Milk Weeds.  Students learned that milk weeds are important as they are the only food that Monarch Caterpillars eat and they are vital for the survival of monarch butterflies.

Students then explored the parts of the milk weed plant and dissected leaves, stems, roots and seed pods.

After our explorations, students enjoyed working together cooperatively and playing together nicely at play centers.

One student was overheard saying "This was the BEST DAY EVER, Mrs. Clarke!"

I LOVE days like these!
